Rugby Championship Perth

If I could describe Australian Rugby this year with one word, it would be drama. Forget no dramas, it was all dramas as the people of Melbourne and Perth endure an agonisingly long wait to see which team would be axed from the Super Rugby Competition.

After a season to remember on the field, a growing rugby community and inclusion of 9 of the clubs players in the Wallabies it is no wonder that many people were shocked to learn Perth’s Western Force would be the team to go.

Those people would get their chance to voice their opinion when the Springboks played the Wallabies shifting all eyes on the state's capital.

With everyone joining forces (no pun intended) as a community this was bubbling to be a historic event, as a lover of rugby, I knew I had to be there come Saturday.

Thanks to the cloud cover and sun setting over the indian ocean there was a moment of color, contrast and beauty minutes before the kickoff. Which allowed for some Wide Landscape shots taking in the scene we were in.

There was a light drizzle just before the game keeping the crowd off their seats and in the stands to interact with one another. This aspect of sports is the most important. It is used to bring people together. Youtube channel 1014 has created a rugby community joining people on a global scale with common values in which rugby can bring about. Nelson Mandela used this aspect to mend a nation stooped in divide together. The ability to unite for the love and passion of a common interest is what means the most to me in sports.

With the night falling on the stadium the color of blue punched out of the crowd telling us how passionate these fans were along the constant chanting of ‘Force! Force! Force’ they definitely echoed the statement. In their minds, the force were worthy and here to stay.

There were many half chances and ‘almost’ moments throughout the game which gave everyones quads a good stretch, it’s fair to say there was no need for the mexican waves to get the crowd up onto their feet.

The Decider

The Wallabies went onto lead with 33 minutes left on the clock, it was theirs to win. With another twist in the tale it was the Springboks who fought their way back into the game nearly clinching victory. A smothered drop goal attempt minutes before the final whistle leaving the game drawn. Passion restored, the game was the winner at the end of the day. Moneys worth in rugby entertainment possibly not. Understanding the role sports can play in uniting people and advancing us was definitely worth it. All in all it was fun :).
