After looking at different adventurous things to do in Perth, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to swim with dolphins just off of the Rockingham coast. I can honestly say that in Perth there are many amazing places to visit and you don't have to travel far to find them. The accessibility and opportunities that we have are sometimes taken for granted but this is definitely an adventure that I will never forget. I mean, I don't know many other places where you can travel 45 minutes away from the city and find yourself surrounded by dolphins.
After getting on the boat and exploring different areas of the bay, I had a bit of time to take some interesting photographs of the scenery. After that I had to squeeze into a wetsuit. It was at this time my stomach became slightly unsettled, not due to the fact that we were on the ocean but rather that my gear, all of my hard earned paid for gear, was on this one single boat...
After about fifteen minutes of scanning the seas of Rockingham, we found our first pod and we were stoked! Seeing those fins pop up over the waves was a welcome sign.
The anchor dropped and we were off on our adventure. Slowly submerging under the cold crystal water, each one of us was linked together by a rope and were greeted by the dolphins instantly. Dolphins are definitely friendly mammals and you can't help but feel a sense of calm in their presence.
This was a truly beautiful and spiritual experience with everyone having their personal interaction with the Dolphins. We would watch them swim right up close to us out of nowhere and face us, eye to eye. It was instantly evident that they liked our company.
For me my favourite part was hearing the Dolphins sing to each other, their communication is beautiful. They were so happy, joyful and playful.
I had such a surreal time, almost otherworldly. Who would’ve thought dolphins could have such an intense, positive and deep affect on me. This is something I would highly suggest for everyone! You’ll feel love, light, happiness and content by the end.
