Richmond Raceway Trotting Booths Public Art Unveiling at George Booth Park

The City of East Fremantle are becoming more and more well known (to me at least) for their amazing community initiatives where the word ‘effort’ truly comes to mind.

So as the first of August was coming around the council touched base with me to cover another event for the City. The recent public art installation was to be the focal point where they hosted an array of VIP guests which I was stocked to be apart of on a beautiful Saturday morning.

Adjacent to George Booth Park was the East Fremantle Bowling Club. This is where we got a special look at all the Memorabilia dropped off by some of the VIP members.

This was how the raceway looked back then with underground parking and the whole works. What was remarkable is the transformation this area has taken over the years, you really couldn’t picture the raceway without this redevelopment drawin from Ross Pyke from 1974.

Reviving the years of rich history was lead by “One Last Race” called by Hayden King who did a brilliant commentary Job! “Check your ticket & cheer for your steed!” was the warning shot and everyone got involved.

Below you can see the last living mayor on your right and the current mayor on your left. The old boy grabbed me for this shot as he shared how he was the last of the lot of em!

The fin galloped onwards and getting personal with all the stalwarts of the city was the treasure find.
