I heard something the other day and it went something like this - ‘The only thing you are responsible for is doing your BEST’.
My grandparents were the best example I know of this, not for one day or one week but for a lifetime…
Meet Diana, my dearest grandmother. This lovely lady called me out of the blue the other day and whilst we were chatting she shared that some people would still come to her for counselling and advice for surviving and thriving in their lives. One lady who recently came to Diana in desperation knew that she could help as she recalled Diana helping her ex-husband 30 years earlier.
What struck me most is how she is still doing remarkable work out of the goodness in her heart. In the photograph above she’s saluting Clivey; her husband of over 60 years on his birthday a few months after he passed and below she would not leave his side right up until the moment he took his last breath, holding his hand and letting him know she is there as he goes.
The core of any good relationship is providing value to each other in whatever way that is. Once you work out your value is to yourself, to your partner, your family and others then you know what it takes to lead a fulfilled life.
Good work and being of value and service to others is all apart of your legacy. Remember that on this day that this 88 year old woman is still providing value in the world! Touching, moulding and inspiring many people to lead better lives by taking ownership of what they can change and showing them the path to their own happiness.
There's no reason not to keep giving your best in EVERYTHING you do Whilst managing that loss, Dianan still shows up for those who need her in their lives, absolutely incredible!
